It's easy to forget that despite EA Sports' FIFA video game franchise being the current dominant football simulation game, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer, or PES, video game series was the dominant game from around 2003 to around 2008. Konami has announced that their new football simulation game will be called eFootball, and it will be released in Autumn 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and PC Steam, with iOS and Android to follow soon after.ĮFootball will be a free-to-play football game, with crossplay available across all platforms, which will be continually updated and upgraded rather than releasing a new game every year, following the free-to-play philosophy of games like Fortnite.
Konami has confirmed that the iconic Pro Evolution Soccer name is no more, with the Japanese game developer renaming their latest release to eFootball.
